Film work
While I was living in China I discovered an antique shop that had a hundreds of old 16mm films stacked in the back garden. None of the films had titles or info, it was a complete lucky dip. I repurposed these lost films into new narratives, mixing found footage with handpainted 16mm film to create short films and expanded cinema performances. The following films are a collection of found footage, hand painted 16mm film and film photography. Lyrics:
You rambled the world
In search of truth
Seeds of your soul
Stretch from the east to the west
And your roots waiting to be grounded
Balance where are you?
You'll find yourself wherever you could be

Nahash JUE 2015 Nahash -Cine Sonic Explorations
**UPDATE: Nahash show has been cancelled due to cultural bureau restrictions. Boris will play as planned. Follow us on facebook for updates on the next Nahash performance. www.facebook.com/RedscaleStudiosShanghai **
On Friday March 13th, 2015 Nahash will support BORIS with a live audio visual performance at QSW Cultural Centre for JUE Festival 2015.
Nahash is comprised of Raphael Valensi on sound and Tina Sprinkles on visuals. The pair have released a string of EPs on their Huashan Label which have been described as "getting darker every time".
Their sound mixes influences from sinister doom to shrieking Norwegian metal, and this performance will see Nahash joined by Michael Cupoli (Noise Arcade) on the stage to add thundering drums to their fuzzy drones and celluloid explorations.
Abandoned 16mm film is mixed with handmade & hand painted film to create a montage of archival footage, lost films and textural experiments. Tina Sprinkles collects discarded 16mm film reels, re-editing found footage to create a surreal film collage. She also works directly on the film strip, painting, scratching and drawing on to the celluloid to create wild abstract landscapes. These “lost films”with out name or narrative, are reappropriated into new elaborate chronologies.
